L.E. Modesitt Jr prefers that his Recluce series be read in published order since he develops the world & themes in that manner. I heartily agree for a first read, but subsequent reads in chronological order are also fantastic.

You're welcome. In my review of the first book, Lee gave me the chronology for where each short story fit, too. You can find it here:

Thank you for this chronological reading order for the Saga of Recluce. When do the stories in Recluce Tales take place?

Thank you Jim.
Steve wrote: "When does Fairhaven rising take place?"Thank you. I hadn't realized it was out & just ordered it.
It's supposed to take place 16 years after The Mage-Fire War, but I don't know a date for sure. I'm guessing 704 for the year. I've updated the chronology in my review which contains all the short stories, too. You can find it here:

Thank you Jim.
This list is not the same as https://www.goodreads.com/series/2161...which is right? Is there one that has the years between?
Brandon wrote: "This list is not the same as ..."Msg 2 has the link to my review which has the correct chronological order including the short stories & dates. Modesitt vetted that himself. Here's the link again.
