Every semester, I invite my ESL college students to choose a book to read. We have in-class and out of class exercises that support their learning. At the end of the semester, they give a short presentation on their opinion of the book. They say whether or not they think their classmates should read their book or not. http://eslbooktalk.weebly.com
I initially started this assignment as a way to get my students to read for pleasure, but it's also helped them increase their vocabulary, their confidence in English and much more.
I've been doing this kind of assignment for a few years now, and I think there are other ESL instructors that could benefit from a list like this, as well as students researching and looking for a book that they can read that isn't too long or difficult.
IF YOU'RE ONE OF MY STUDENTS, PLEASE RESEARCH YOUR CHOICE CAREFULLY. USE THIS LIST AS A GUIDE.
