Books with dark magic. It can be used by main character or anyone from their surroundings, or just play an important role in their environment.

The characters are not against the magic itself, at least not totally. Nor are they pure evil. It is easy to find a villain necromancer or demon summoner. These books, instead, feature characters who could easily be your expected conventional mage, but just happen to take interest in dark arts instead.

I plan to abstain from urban fantasy (and especially those paranormal romances!).
