Are there any books or series out there written by a male author that have a female protagonist? I've seen plenty of books by male authors with male MCs and plenty by female authors with both genders as MCs, but very few in this category. I'm just curious (I probably won't read them).

A few restrictions:
-The book must be a stand-alone or a primary work in a series. I don't want novellas or short stories that are based on another book or series with the focus on a particular female character from the main series.
-The main character must be the single female main character. Basically, I don't want her to share the spotlight with a male as co-MC. If two or more females share the spot for main character, that is fine, but there can't be a single male in that spot.
-The book should be the first in the series. While I won't eliminate it outright, I'd prefer you list the first book in the series and only the first book, that way it will be easier to keep track of what we already have. At the same time, it will prevent more books that have a female main character only in the middle of the series, rather than throughout the series.

I am mainly looking for more recent books, written within the last couple decades (21st century), but if you know of any before that, feel free to share.

Also, I realize that there are a couple similar lists, but as I have yet to read the greater majority of the books on them, I am unsure about how many comply with my specific requests.

Bonus Points if the character is portrayed well.
