I'm a sucker for an innovative twist in writing and especially to new structural approaches. These are some of my favorites and I hope others will add to it. Some inclusions might not be obvious--Infinite Jest is here because the footnotes are used to tell a lot of the story and the voice changes mid-paragraph, Pale Fire because the narrative follows from the surprisingly readable epic poem with which it begins, Nutshell because it takes place in a womb, Telegraph Avenue for its central solo riff (the much maligned and misunderstood 12 page sentence which I think is the best part of the book), Lincoln in the Bardo for its unique structure. Gravity's Rainbow has its random, often bizarre, songs and poems. 4321 for being exactly what the titles says. The Ice-shirt for the random and not very good drawings that accompany the personal travelogue inserted into this tale of Nordic and Native American gods.
