Grada (BoekenTrol) *jumps for joy* that you made a new list for this year :-) I loved last year's list!.

I now hope that GR makes it possible to SEARCH lists for books, because it is very hard to go through more than 10 pages of books to see if someone else accidently already added the book that you've read and want to add. Please?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay! Thanks for playing last year, and thanks in advance for this year. I loved it too.

There is a "remove duplicate books" tool on the lists, which I am just starting to explore. So just put the books in, and every now and then I will do a "duplicate removal". Apparently it combines the votes into the first one posted, but I will do some experimenting just to make sure.

message 3: by Bettie (new)

Bettie

Happy New Year Ladies

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I'll do a "combine duplicates" every time I vote, probably, Hayes.

You need to click on the tab "add books to this list" above, and then follow the instructions.

message 6: by Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (last edited Jan 02, 2012 10:52AM) (new)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I'll be interested to see which book is the first to 2 readers this year; and how long it takes.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I was just thinking the same thing!

message 8: by Bettie (new)

Bettie When was it last year? Just curious. I suppose when the cliques sign in with a group read will be the telling point.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know... wasn't paying attention, really. I hadn't considered the power of a group read.

message 10: by Bettie (new)

Bettie It'll be fun watching, whatev!
:O)

message 11: by Mimal (new)

Mimal Första dubbel är 4 januari! First double-up.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I see Jodi Picoult was the winner, LOL.

message 13: by Penny (new)

Penny Hi there,
Glad to find your list! I didn't want to lose it again, so I've added the book I'm currently reading (which will of course become the first book for 2012). I've been sick, so I'm a bit slow off the mark LOL.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Penny, thanks for playing. I add the book I-m currently reading too.

message 15: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Hah! - three doubles by 5th Jan. How long before a treble!?

♥ Marlene♥ Hi. I did read 4 YA books but I am not sure if I will add them. I did not add all the books I've read 104 in 2011. just 9 very good ones. Reading 11/22/63 now. that will be 1 vote from me. coming soon.

♥ Marlene♥ I would like to make a suggestion. Maybe we can also have a list for over 35 where we can add our favourite books? It can be out favourites of all time, or of this year? I could make a list but do not want to be stepping on any one's toes. Cause now we just see all the books people have read but it does not mean that they were any good.:)

message 18: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 11, 2012 04:22AM) (new)

You can set that up if you want.

Go to the top of the page and you'll see
(under Recommendations)
All lists | Create a list | My lists

Click on Create a list and follow the instructions.

Give a link here so we can all come and vote :-)

And go ahead and add the YA titles if you want. I read a fair amount of YA literature, so I'm always happy to see new recommendations.

Thanks for voting

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Bettie wrote: "Hah! - three doubles by 5th Jan. How long before a treble!?"

Still no treble; but 2 more doubles, LOL.

Once the ladies weigh in with TCoMC votes, it will all change ... until another large group read, that is. It is fun watching.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Yeah, a couple of my groups are reading The Count right now, or very recently.

message 22: by Penny (new)

Penny Definitely add YA books in - it is always interesting to note how many adults are reading them. I certainly do. As a writer I like to know what's going on out there and what is liked :)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Our first triplet! 11/22/63, by Stephen King.

Oh, my goodness! They are too cute. I would've put money on the Stephen King book to win the triple crown--if I was a betting man. I'm neither betting nor a man.)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I think a lot of people got that one for Christmas. My mother did! (And she liked it; her first Stephen King.)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads On the verge of two pages...

ETA: You going to do the "add to TBR list" thing this year, Hayes?

message 28: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 16, 2012 12:53PM) (new)

Sure, why not... But I'll make my decision after I've read the 5 books from 2011. I must say I'm not looking forward to two of them.

But I said I'd do it, so I will.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

We've broken 100 books. Yay!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Indeed we have!

Here is the link to vote for our favourite 2012 books

I've also added a link to your list. I see how it go's and maybe we can do a all times favourite books list as well for us oldies. lol x

Bettie We have quad of stephen king right there (20th Jan 2012)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads A quint of King - as of the 22nd of January.

message 34: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Susanna wrote: "A quint of King - as of the 22nd of January."

Oh *gasps in faux surprise*- isn't 'quint' rather a rude word.

LOL

Well Done Stephen King - you are still in business.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Quint is rude? I've only ever heard it as a shorthand for "quintuplet" and in music terminology.

message 36: by ♥ Marlene♥ (last edited Jan 23, 2012 12:03PM) (new)

♥ Marlene♥ To be honest I was not sure what quad meant, let alone quint ;) Added book numero 10. hmm wait a minute? This means I forgot 1 book cause I also always add the one I am reading and I have read 10 books. off to check.... Aha I did not add the book I gave just 1 star but added it just now.

Bettie? Could you give me a hint as to what, where, and how "quint" is a rude term? Because I've been making a big faux pas.

message 38: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Aaaah - this noun must be more regional than I thought. The less offensive allusion to female front-bottom anatomy and nope, don't worry I won't find a piccie or a musical segue.

hahahah

message 39: by Renee (new)

Renee Ah! My apologies for making you spell it out, Bettie, but thank you. We spell it with a C and I hate that word.

message 40: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Renee wrote: "Ah! My apologies for making you spell it out, Bettie, but thank you. We spell it with a C and I hate that word."

I detest the 'c' word too

Funnily enough this has been quite a discussion in Sweden parliament re sex education. The equipment for lads here is usually in 'friendly' terms, however for the girls all is offensive.

Different in UK - where 'penny', 'tuppence', 'mary' are used by mums looking after youngsters. Far more reassuring.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Snort! I had no idea.

message 42: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Anyways - after MUCH deliberation this is what they came up with:

That's right - the little snip! North African countries would be proud heh

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

ouch...

in Italy they use patatina, little potato (I've never been able to find anyone who could give me a decent explanation of that one!) which is fairly acceptable even in polite company. Loads and loads of regional words there are, which are not quite acceptable, and the usual slew of words for the gutter.

message 44: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Why is it that we are still, in these enlightened times, unable to find the right dignified nomenclature for females. Maybe we haven't been emancipated for long enough - it has been for less than a century in most cases.

Susanna? You are up on these things...

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I have no idea! We need a cultural anthropologist.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

My mother always just called it what it was (starts with v). My girlfriend next door had a pathetically cutsie word for it, which I can't remember, although I do remember finding it hysterically funny.

I have added my 5* so far - four! - it is a good reading year to date.

:O)

message 48: by Bettie (new)

Bettie The gov. decided that this was the way forward for boys education...

So we have the snip and the knob - how does that appeal to folk from other countries? Please remember we have had over a year of debate on this subject with daily headlines.

Malmö is a wasteland under gang law; Skåne wants independence but NO - we must find the right names...

hahahah

It's good to keep your priorities straight, I always say. Did they get the local politicians to model for the book cover?

I like the little tap dancing guy in the lower right hand corner.
