Already at that point it wasn't available to buy anywhere online. The one exception was Blackwell's over in the UK, which claimed to have until some years ago. It was foolish of me to not try to buy it from them back then despite living in Sweden, because now it's out of stock there as well.
What I know for a fact though is that the novel was visible on Penguin's own website in April of 2022, as part of the series, because that is when I first encountered the series and got interested. The first time I tried contacting Penguin's customer support was in October of the same year, so it vanished from their website somewhere in-between April-October 2022.
I now have all the other twenty books in the series, and have since tried contacting Penguin via email several times about this specific title, but I have gotten a grand total of zero replies. Not even a "We don't know". Even if it never got into print, it would be nice to get an actual response from Penguin about it someday.
The fact that it doesn't even pop up a single time on Ebay or any other second hand webpages makes me think that it probably wasn't published at all. There seems to be no photos of the actual physical book, just digital images of the book cover.
The ISBN number for it is 9780241442982, if you want to look for it further. If you find any more info, feel free to share it with me.
On a sidenote, when I today checked Penguin's own webpage about the series, "Ice" by Anna Kavan is gone as well. Unlike "Last and First Men" it's still available to buy via other retailers however, at least for now.
