I started with Piranesi by Susanna Clark. It really struck a cord with me and having finished it I am looking for books that I enjoy in the same way. The problem is it’s rather new, and so hasn’t crept into many lists yet, and rather unusual so doesn’t easily fit into a sub- genre. I tried to pick books that gave me the same type of enjoyment and made me think about layers of meaning. Hard to put my finger on the connecting threads here. Quite, magical, philosophical fiction that makes you think. Books that have a certain ‘something’, and you think about long after you read them.
