This is a good series, and great writing, but the author gets rather redundant on explaining character personality, and they seem rather one dimensional. I've have liked less repetative explanation of how Nynaeve is bossy every time you come into her, and rather less about what she's wearing, as well, and more about motive. The series drags on after book 6 or 7, and I actually quit after book 10 because I couldn't make myself continue in that vein, with no ending apparent. However, it is well written, and it draws you in trying to figure out what's going to happen, next, so it gets a 4/5.
So I'm reading this series and listening on audiobook when I can't find a moment to read. Love the series but one thing I find especially annoying is Jordan's portrayal of women. ALL the women are surly, contrary, and petulant. Even in the most dire of circumstances, Jordan paints the women as petty. Example, trollocs are attacking Edmonds field in The Shadow Rising and one of the women chides Perrin for a breach in courtesy. Silliness. While he writes women as strong and independent, I wish that Jordan had laid off the constant backhanded insults.
