Can we have sci-fi without dystopia, apocalypse, and existential threats? Where ordinary people help each other? And maybe make and serve hot beverages? Yes, we can!
Cozy-punk is the opposite of grimdark, but to me it's slightly different from hope-punk as Alexandra Rowland defined it (also the opposite of grimdark). Cozy-punk is more inward-focused than hope-punk and more about telling the stories of people getting on with their lives and what those lives might be like in a very different time and place. But there might be some overlap. I would consider Becky Chambers to be a great example of both.
