Stephanie I definitely think that "A Thousand Splendid Suns" belongs on this list!!! It's so moving, it stayed with me long after I finished reading it. Also, "Something Borrowed" and excellent book that addresses serious friendship issues.

message 18: by Linda (new)

Linda I read two books that were fantastic but haven't seen them here. They are by a new author and are well worth reading and I gave both 5 star ratings. Waiting for the 3rd and finally book in the series coming out in the fall/winter. Hoping fall.. lol The names are "BRAINRUSH I AND BRAINRUSH:ENEMY OF MY EMEMY II by Richard Bard. They are truly wonderful reads and I was not disappointed with either. Not the typical type of book I would have read but once I started I could not put the first one down and the same with the 2nd one. Now I am anxiously waiting for the third BRAINRUSH book to find out how it all ends. Has fiction, love, terrorists, everything to make them the best books I have read in ages..

The books you mentioned sound great but do you think they qualify as female friendship fiction? Let me know what you think.

message 20: by Linda (new)

Linda I am not exactly sure what qualifies as female friendship fiction. I do know that these books will take the reader on a journey from the US to several other countries dealing with love, terrorists, a lot of fighting and escaping from horrible people and back to the US where the main character and the love of his life are together again with a child they rescued and then torn apart again. Won't know what happens to them until I read the 3rd and last book in this series. It would be a good one for females to talk about and compare what they think but it does have a lot of on edge action and all I can say is I loved them both and can't wait to get the third and final book in this series. I can't imagine anyone reading these and not loving them and the characters in the story. Hope this helps you to decide...

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) So, what is it called when it's not a Bro-mance but... Sismantics?

message 22: by ♥ Marlene♥ (last edited Nov 06, 2013 06:57AM) (new)

♥ Marlene♥ I do not think the books Linda mentioned are suitable for this list but they look to be great and I am sure there will be another list for it.

To me books about women and their friendship should be a red thread through the whole book.

I immediately thought of books like Class reunion and Five Women by Ron jaffe, The Help, Lace by Shirley Conran.. I love those kind of books and I prefer to have let say 4 women and learn about their lives.

The Dirty girls society club,The Chocolate Lovers' Diet, and those kind of books.

I see quite a lot of books that I do not really think fit. ps I love you is about grief and not about friendship between women,It by SK? naah it is between friends but not female friends, The Kitchen house? no way! I think someone with no clue voted and then people saw the books and then just clicked on the same book.

Great idea though and I an glad to see there are also a lot that do fit. Thanks.

Glad that you like the list. I agree about "It" but everyone is free to add if they see fit.I just added a title which I recently read. "Tapestry of Fortunes" by Elizabeth Berg. As you mentioned, it is the story of four women sharing a house and a friendship. "PS I love you" felt to me like a friendship book because her girlfriends helped her to overcome her grief. Hope you will contribute titles to the list and thanks for your imput.
