CHECK WHEN LUNAR NEW YEAR OCCURS! Some years it is in January, and it is in February on other years.

The list below includes a variety of books based on New Year traditions, family, food, stories and more.

Here, you can find fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, instructional books on Chinese art such as ink drawing and paper cutting, gardening, cultural etiquette, Chinese astrology, classical Chinese literature, and more!

The fictional books are a mix of generational Chinese experiences within families as well as American-Chinese experiences. And - of course - recipe books for DUMPLINGS!

EDIT: People have added books that reflect simply set in China... when you make a book display for Chinese New Year, try to include books that focus on family, food, Chinese astrology, Chinese luck, Chinese couplets, and books that can help others to feel informed on what would happen during celebrations.

Some fiction included in this list may not have much relation to the holiday, which would be like making a display based on "Christmas" with books simply set in the US that have nothing to do with the holiday's symbols/meaning/celebrations. So just be aware of that!
