Who loves reading italicized text? No one. When I see a wall of italics, especially multiple pages' worth, I have to ask myself if I really want to read all that. Occasional standard usage to denote internal thoughts, or emphasize a word in a sentence, or indicate a foreign language? Go for it, but do it SPARINGLY. And for the sake of readers' sanity, don't make up new reasons to use italics.
