Priscilla Bailey: A Story of the Great Depression Really sad book in some ways, but the ending is great. Like the Grapes of Wrath in some ways, but a much quicker read.
a lot of my favorite books are on this list. . . the book thief, of mice and men, the amber spyglass, they're all great reads

Only two books have I shed tears over: Watership Down, and the last chapter of The House at Pooh Corner.....as an adult, I mean, but being an American male, I have many inward tears I withold, to the point where I compromise perception of my own feelings, so....I clicked on a few titles above by way of confession.
Two of these books - "Charlotte's Web" and "The Witch Next Door" - involved crying at age 4 when they were read to me. (The first case sadness, the second case, fear.) As an adult I hardly ever cry at books. Or laugh audibly either, for that matter. I voted for "The Road" because if I'd been reading it in private I might have let the tears flow, but I was on the subway so I just sniffled very subtly as if my nose was bothering me.

My Father-in-law gave it to me and I thought hmmm a book about rabbits--not so but so good.

I cried only after I reread this book sometime when my first child was leaving for college....a personal thing, no doubt.
The Hunger Games, Bridge To Teribithia, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Catching Fire, The Giver, The Velveteen Rabbit,The Last Olympian, Charlottes Web, Fever 1793, and The Vampires Assistant (only the last three chapters on that one)
Okay, I'm a crier, a lot of books have made me cry and I can't even begin to put them in order, but top of the list are The Road, and Say Goodnight, Gracie. I was a teenager the first time I read the last one so I cried really easily throughout almost the entire book.
New Moon, really? Dramatic much teenage girls? ugh if u voted on that u r so low life.
i cried whenever i read Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott. Especially the part where Beth died.
Most books of Lurlene McDaniel make one cry, well me. I really Love her books, I hope you could also give her a try, I mean in reading.
If Les Miserables can't make you cry, then there's not a damn thing that would.

Any book that involves an animal makes me cry...Sounder, Old Yeller, Black Beauty, Marley and Me, etc. Where the Red Fern Grows was downright brutal.
Hardly any book has made me cry so most of the books I picked were one's I thought I should have cried to. So yhea I have no soul. But if you want a book to cry to then I recommend Flowers for Algernon. I remember reading it in class and at the end I was about to start weeping. I only teared up a little but still it was a very sad book.

You might like The Time It Never Rained by Elmer Kelton. I don't recall crying but then I don't cry easy. Its very sad about the depression in west Texas.

I have never cried more in a book then in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. When Johnny died I was crying like crazy, blowing my nose, the whole nine yards. It was the most I've ever cried in a book, until I reached the last ten or fifteen pages where I just lost it. I was just sobbing hysterically at that point...Really, really great book though. One of the best.

That is so true! I think I've cried more at Les Mis than anything else I've read. I was a bit hysterical, to be honest.
A lot of my friends say that if you cry that much at a book, it's too sad, but I love it. I have to hold anything that makes me feel so strongly in high regard.

While I'm certainly not a fan of the Twilight Saga, I think it's quite out of line to call someone who cried at it, "so low life". If someone feels strongly enough to cry, they should cry. Emotions are emotions--they don't usually follow logic.

That Shakespeare quote comes to my mind which I rarely quote correctly, "Madame, methinks thou doth protest too much." There is some reason WHY THEY YELL AND CARRY ON SO MUCH!

Haha! I think the reason they rant about Twilight so much is because it's such a popular thing and people feel the need to get their opinion out there. But I think it's one thing to give a clear reason for why you don't think Twilight is good, and quite another to actually insult the people who read and enjoyed it!

For a week or so after reading 'Til the Boys come Home I felt a wave of depression every time I thought of it.
I cry so easily that I'd rather look for a "Books that didn't make me cry" list.
A child called, it has had to be the saddest book i have ever read, and best at that i couldnt keep my hands off it WHILE my sisters keeper (THEMOVIE) Had me crying like a baby i seen it about 5 times and i manage to cry every single time I LOVE IT. and NIGHT is my favorite book of all time :)
I also cried in My Sister's Keeper but I won't see it again. I thought the movie ending was more realistic than the book.
I totally agree Fang leaving in Fang by James Patterson was heartbreaking! Especially after reading his letter to max at the end, i was tearing up.

Some people cried in the Deathly Hollows because so many people died. I personally wasn't one of them, but I can see where they were coming from

OMG I cried during Breaking Dawn because I thought everyone was going to die, but once I was done, I started slapping myself in the face for wasting valuable tears. The book was not worth it.
