Books based on TV shows and movies...
These should be books which were inspired by the TV/Movie series (eg: Buffy/Angel) or otherwise authorized by the show runners (Doctor Who/Star Trek/Star Wars).
All genres welcome!
The Blood Ties (bka Vickie Nelson) books came first (written in the 1990s) and actually inspired the short lived TV series, I will leave them for now. [ETA] The Midsomer Murder series first came out in 1987 and, again, inspired the most excellent TV series. I will leave those for the moment too.

Look at Babylon 5 tie-ins. There's 18 of them 9 in a numbered series and 3 trilogies. And a few TV movie novelizations.

I have some questions about what books can be included on this list. Is this list for fiction only (novels, short story collections, etc.) or can nonfiction books (such as The Science Of Star Wars, or The Physics Of Star Trek, for example) be added? Also are novelizations, which basically tell the story of a movie or a television episode in book form, permitted? Or is this list only for books that don't have a filmed equivalent? Please get back to me on this. Thank you.

This list is for fiction based on or inspired by a TV/Movie series, mainly. However, we could certainly start a list for fictional technical manuals ... I just did a search and there is no list like that! Shocking.
I did find this Listopia List: Nonfiction Books about Science Fiction and Fandom
Novelizations are welcome! The first set of books I posted originally include the novelizations of Cocoon & Cocoon 2 (Metamorphosis), Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, and Doctor Who stories like Remembrance of the Daleks. Sometimes, the novelizations actually add to the plot, or are better than the aired story - a good example is Doctor Who and the Space War, by Malcolm Hulke, which is better than the aired episode Frontier in Space.

I wasn't exactly sure what the list description meant by 'all genres welcome'.
I forgot to ask if graphic novels based on television shows and movies are permitted. I've added several film and tv based graphic novels that I enjoyed to the list. However if graphic novels don't qualify for inclusion, just let me know and I'll remove them.

Graphic Novels/Comics are books in my book and are most welcome. =0D
There's one of these books based on the Clint Eastwood film "The Gauntlet," but I'm not looking through all those pages for it!

Chris wrote: "There's one of these books based on the Clint Eastwood film "The Gauntlet," but I'm not looking through all those pages for it!"Sometimes, if you go to the Goodreads database entry for the book itself, there will be a link at the bottom of the page where you can see what Listopia lists already include the book. Although, Listopia seems to treat each edition of a book as a separate entity. I've seen lists where a book ended up on twice because there were two separate editions.
