List your all-time favorite technothrillers.
NOTE: Technothrillers are a hybrid genre, drawing subject matter generally from science fiction, thrillers, spy, action and war. The inner workings of technology and the mechanics of various disciplines (espionage, martial arts, politics) are thoroughly explored, and the plot often turns on the particulars of that exploration.

message 4: by Bo (new)

Bo Scott Help! I am looking for a book that I read in about 1987.
All of the world's computers crash, except those with the Apple/Macintosh operating system.
The book came out sometime after the "MacPlus" (my first computer).
I don't know the name; nor do I know the title.
Can anyone solve my query?
Thank you.
Miss Bo

William Blankinship I have a similar request. Around 1995 I read a novel and depopulating the world to save it. A group picked leading scientists and others to have the antidote for a virus that was engineered. Folks were tricked into taking a vaccine also. The heroes won and dumped the masterminds of the plot naked in the Amazon jungle. I do not remember the name or author. The was a V22 Osprey tiltrotor on the cover. This was while there were still in the testing phase in the real world.

HI William - AG Riddle has a similar book, it's the first in a series I think and intertwined with the Atlantis Gene series.
Pandemic

Enjoy!

message 7: by Red (new)

Red Hi there,
I'm looking for a novel similar to the show "Person of Interest" or AI. Female and male protagonists that are adversaries at the beginning but become allies (friends, lovers whatever). Preferably the characters should not be younger than 30, so no teens.^^

(Just read D. F. Jones Colossus anything in that direction would be fine)

In short:

AI thriller akin to POI (Person of Interest TV)

adversaries -> allies

characters (f/m) should no longer be teens

Thanks in advance for your help, hope someone has a recommendation for me.

Cheers :)

Hi Red, I just ran across your somewhat-old question and thought I'd throw my new book out there. It's titled All In and features two unlikely 30-something partners (a hacker and an NSA spook) who battle a super AI.

message 11: by Steve (last edited Mar 19, 2026 09:55PM) (new)

Steve Shelby This list got hit by spammers so virtually everyone that voted for The Polymorph or Excordia is a spammer. They spammed about 12-18 books as a batch all in a week or so. Spammed multitudes of lists. Help me reports all those spam accounts.

On one day near early February give or take a month, a big bunch of books (about 12-18) get liked all within about 5 minutes, and they vote for all of these books on several lists as a batch but in randomized order in coordination with several (2 dozen) other accounts doing the same. This is the pattern of the spam accounts. Please help report them. Too much for just me. Will take weeks to get them out of the list.

Digital Fortress is #18 today. It’s there about roughly where it belongs. A good technothriller. This list is a bit dated. Search for other technothriller lists and you find a newer set of lists.
