I've read four or five, and enjoyed all of them.

Northern Lights, btw, is known as The Golden Compass in the U.S.

Maggot Moon by Sally Gardner has won the 2013 CILIP Carnegie Medal - the UK's most prestigious award for children's writing.

The author, who is dyslexic, slammed Michael Gove's new curriculum for excluding children "with a different way of seeing and thinking" and said that "without books I would not be a writer and without the zeal of librarians I would not have won this award."

The Bunker Diary by Kevin Brooks which was rejected by publishers a decade ago because of its "lack of hope" has won the 2014 CILIP Carnegie Medal.
