I'm fascinated by the Akashic Noir series, but there are so many, I thought I'd try to crowdsource which ones are considered the best. And there's currently no way to search for them except one at a time, by title. Very tiring. My hope is that this becomes a one-stop searchable convenience for fans of the series.

My experience is that the U.S. based collections are qualitatively superior to the non-U.S. ones, with Trinidad and Paris as strong exceptions. (London was unusual and strong in its own way, but defined "noir" across several genres.) Strangely, Seattle seemed like a very noir place but the stories in that volume didn't match my expectations. I wouldn't have thought of Richmond as a noir town, but that one was pretty good.

Thank for this list! I just finished reading Bronx Noir and plan to look for other titles in this series.

Glad to know that Paris Noir is worth reading. It's one of my favorite cities.

Multiple books are repeated on the list: Marrakech, San Francisco.
