NO books should be banned, including those I or anyone else find utterly offensive. Books can of course be criticized, or simply excluded from one’s personal reading. But no books should be banned.

First Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1791, explicitly states that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech or of the press. Source: reaganlibrary.gov
If the government bans a book, they are silencing a voice. Silencing a voice is the same as taking away a person's freedom of speech which goes against the first amendment as stated above, therefore banning books goes against the first amendment.
