the point of lists is to make it public and allow others to vote and add books. if you want a personal list, make a new bookshelf

I happen to disagree. I think it is okay to make a set list of books, be them favorites or some other set, and ask others not to add to it so that one can see how those book rank.

Hi Jacky -I agree with Bettie - there are LOTS of books here that don't have 100,000 ratings, some nowheres near that number! (there's even one with only 1 rating...). I'd be glad to go in (yes, I'm able to do so) and remove them if you don't have the time. IF this is just a list of your fave books, that's fine by me, but if that's so then you ought to change the criteria for inclusion up at the top of the list, AND the title of the list too.
I voted for several on the list, but now see that many have less than 100,000 ratings. I just assumed (foolishly, as I know what happens when one assumes) that they wouldn't already be on the list unless they qualified :)I'll go back and delete my votes for those that have less than 99,999 ratings!
oh, boy. Am sorry I took a *closer* look! Found 30 books on the first page that didn't qualify, *97* on the second page, and about 25 on the last page - gave up trying to be exact by then... That's over 150 of 227 books. Think the best fix would be to just change the list title and criteria.
I never named this list that. I made this list a long time ago and labeled just my favorites! I'd forgotten it was even here anymore.
I especially like "Unknown Book 11650992 by Unknown Author 993" and "Unknown Book 9081879 by Unknown Author 880" ... (both on p. 2 and both, you guessed it, without a single rating.)
Going through the Librarian change log, I think I see what happened. This list was created on July 16th, 2008, and was labelled 'Favorite Books. ' On Apr 11, 2011, it was updated to 'Favorite Books of All Time.' On Dec 31, 2011, it was updated to 'Favorite Books with 100,000 + Ratings.'The result is what you see here: a mishmash of entries reflecting the changing criteria.
Maybe it should be changed again to 'Random list with no rhyme or reason.' Then everything would fit!
Good point, Ben. Interesting, too, that none of the changes to the title were made by the lists's actual creator. So, Jacky, you originally created a list containing just your personal favorites (without (1) on the one hand intending others to add books to the list and (2) on the other hand imposing any other criteria than the books being among your personal favorites), right? If that's so, then if the list should be pruned back to anything, it should be pruned back to what Jacky originally placed on it ...
Pruned list to conform to title.Sorry, but lists are public and not personal. From the listopia instruction page:
"Lists are public and everyone can vote on them, so don't create "Michael's Favorite Robot Books"—instead create "Best Robot Books" and seed it with your favorite books about robots."

Michael: You might make a list and call it "MY favorite robot books, and then, well, list them, right ? Bearing in mind that everyone on GR has a "MY" they are interested in documenting.
I see everyone's sockdrawer favorite, Isn't It Pretty To Think So? (329 ratings) has hit this one, too.
Susanna wrote: "I see everyone's sockdrawer favorite, Isn't It Pretty To Think So? (329 ratings) has hit this one, too."I think you should report this abuse to GR's team.
I did. Though a few more reports along the same lines probably can't hurt ...(FWIW, I've also deleted it from this list.)
I did. :) Meanwhile, the page count is down to 28, and it looks like a few of the socks have been pulled. Progress!
