I have for a long time been trying to find books that fit this sort of poetic, often sprawling, perhaps a tad epic story that shows a great deal of unity with the natural landscape and formation by the particular area. It encompasses such different books as fictionalized adventures like The Sea Runners, meditations on life like Housekeeping, American epics like Shadow Country, and true stories like Into the Wild and Into Thin Air. However, because it's very hard for me to figure out what sort of books are similar to these, I thought I'd make a list and see if anyone wished to add titles that made them feel, as best as I can explain, "seduced by the landscape" and lost in the texture of the story's ability to unite nature and humanity through beautiful language.

Grace The Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck. I'm having trouble figuring out how to add books to lists, but I just wanted to suggest that book.

Chloe I can add it. =) I've read it already, but, yes, that'd be about right.
