This list is intended to index the names of authors who have "disappeared" from view, having not written or published anything new in over 10 years.

The cause is usually a personal one, including bereavement, child-rearing or a health scare. These are typically brief pauses in creative production, perhaps not even noticed by the reader.

Unfortunately, the reasons can be more severe. Maybe success became too great to bear—or, instead, too lacking. Some may have simply walked away forever from the idea of being a writer and moved on to other things. Whatever the reason, these authors have managed to remain hush-hush for over a decade, leaving us to wonder where they have gone and if they're coming back.
