namericanwordcat Pretty sure Beast or Crash by Pepper Pace as well but don't recall which one!

I have asthma so would remember this and can't think of a single one. I know that Teddy Roosevelt had asthma and I am reading about his daughter Alice Roosevelt Longworth. One of Teddy's sons died from it but I don't think Alice had it. Princess Alice: The Life and Times of Alice Roosevelt Longworth

Good list! I hope to read some of these.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen Does it have to be asthma? Breathing difficulties ok?

added Beguiled
heroine had a fever wich scarred her lungs.

I can think of a few who had tuberculosis. Once when my asthma went into pneumonia they thought it was TB.

Thanks Kagama! I am sure tempted to add a few Brontes especially since some of the sisters died from asthma.
But the one book I read about that was non-fiction. I think Helen Burns might be based on that. Should I add Jane Eyre? (since Helen Burns may have had asthma)

Of course, Helen Burns was not the heroine and she died. So can't add that one after all.

Its a tricky theme. If it had said books with characters that have asthma then of course you could have added I Think.

Did Helen Burns have asthma? I thought she had tubercolosis.

Helen Burns did have TB but back in those days they did not diagnose asthma. She could have had asthma and her lungs were so weak that they were susceptible to TB. Hmmm, I just thought of Doc Suzie who came here to Colorado to get cured of TB and she did due to the clean air here. I bet she had asthma too. The dust mite cannot live above 5,000 feet so many who are allergic to it get relief by moving up high.
