I've read at least one book from every author on this list (and the 100k fantasy list). I guess I can be confident in my conclusion that as with any genre, the vast majority of popular fantasy authors are unimpressive - which makes the true stars of the genre that much more impressive. Sanderson (though not so much with YA and urban), Butcher (but not with epic), King with his epics, Dahl, Taylor, Rowling.

That follows from Sturgeon's Revelation (often referred to as Sturgeon's Law.
"I repeat Sturgeon’s Revelation, which was wrung out of me after twenty years of wearying defense of science fiction against attacks of people who used the worst examples of the field for ammunition, and whose conclusion was that ninety percent of SF is crud.
Using the same standards that categorize 90% of science fiction as trash, crud, or crap, it can be argued that 90% of film, literature, consumer goods, etc. is crap. In other words, the claim (or fact) that 90% of science fiction is crap is ultimately uninformative, because science fiction conforms to the same trends of quality as all other artforms."
or as I usually here it - "Of course 90% of x is crap, that's because 90% of EVERYTHING is crap."
You're missing https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...and https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8....
I would add them, except I only read them for the sake of my "read every author with a 50k-rated-fantasy" list. And they're not good; my listing them would imply that I like them.

thanks for the find. where my listing them just implies they meet the criteria
As always for these kinds of lists, the more helpers the better. The easiest way to help maintain this and related lists is to vote for books already on the list but with only 1 vote. This will mean a maintainer can remove their vote for that book and vote for another book.A librarian can assist by noting when books have met the criteria for another list. And can add that book to that list and REMOVE it from this list.
A non-librarian can always add the book to the next list an note that it needs removing.
And anyone can find books that meet the criteria for the list that are missing and add them.
Anyone can also note where there are books on the list that don't meet the criteria and note that fact for a librarian or perhaps the voter to fix.
