Listopia > 2014 Debut Author Challenge (YA/MG/NA)
This list has been created for the 2014 Debut Author Challenge, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, but can be also used as a starting guide for those interested in reading 2014 books from new authors.
Unfortunately, it's pretty easy for other users to add books to this list which are not 2014 debuts so not all titles listed may be reliable.
A book only qualifies for this list if it's the author's first middle grade or young adult book. If the author has published a billion adult books and this is their first young adult book, it counts. If the author published a young adult book two years ago or three years ago or last month, their new book does not count. Self published titles, do not count for this challenge.

BLOOD AND SALT and THE WRATH AND THE DAWN are by mighty fab ladies, but both are 2015 debuts, not 2014.
Red Rising (Red Rising Trilogy, #1) by Pierce Brown and The Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley are 2014 debuts, but not YA or MG.

Hmm...I don't know. It was still published in 2013, though.

I understood the new 'rules' said if it comes out in your region in another year, you can use it. Like, a lot of books come out in the US one year and then come out in Australia (where I live) a year later. And vice versa for AU/UK releases.
I could be wrong. But if a book comes out in the US in 2013 and here in 2014, I use it for the DAC. Different publishers, editions etc.

Sorry, I didn't know about the new rules. Thanks for sharing.

NA = New Adult

YA = Young Adult and MG = Middle Grade, which are books for younger readers (like from 11 to 15 I think, it's a US classification)

The Winner's Curse is not a debut YA. Marie has released 4 or 5 other YA books. Shadow Society was a big one.
