My cousins used to have trolls like that when we were little! I was soooo envious of them ... they are adorable!!

Almost all Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels feature red-heads (because red-heads are psychic!) and there are about a hundred so I only listed a few.

Yea, but I see they move with the times. He/She/It's got a belly button ring! What no tattoo?
I can't think of any characters with red hair! I don't remember Jane Eyre having red hair either.

Re: Jane Eyre: I don't think it's exactly auburn, but if memory serves, shortly before their ill-fated wedding ceremony Mr. Rochester compliments her on her shining eyes and hair (and somehow I've always imagined her hair to be reddish-brown because of that scene ... will have to look up again how precisely the scene reads. Sometimes our memory does funny things to the things it picks up!) Besides, wasn't the girl whose "rebellious" curls caused all the brouhaha with Mr. Brocklehurst (in the book it's not Helen Burns like in many movie adaptations but another student) a redhead also?
I am a fan of redheads. My Mother had auburn hair. My husband's hair was orange and my daughter's hair is orange. My Grandson's hair is orange and when someone tells him he's a cute redhead he says his hair is actually orange.
I don't remember Jane Eyre having red hair eitherWe aren't talking eponymous - just major memorable characters from a story. For example - it is the 'orrible nurse in Over The Cuckoo Nest that has the red hair.

hah - Carol! you all deserve top spots here
Huh! I always thought Jane had brown hair! I could have just assumed because she always has brown hair in the adaptations; guess I never payed too much attention to that detail...

I remember quite a thing about the red curly hair which had to be cut off.
Yes, I think you're right Bettie - Helen had red hair! Is that enough to get Jane Eyre on this list? ("Mousey" is always used to describe boring brownish hair, as far as I understand it!)
