Great list! I wish more of these books were available in Europe ...

haha - I know. When I first started adding books to the list I ran out of room @ 100 titles added :( LOL. I was going back to all my old faves. Some I'm not sure how well they'd hols up if I read them again - but I LOVED these books as a teen.and yay you're a fan of Kirsten Murphy. I re-read Raincheck on Timbuktu last week - that book reminds me of my life, the daggy and cool parts. She writes similarly to Rebecca Sparrow I think.
I love 'Raincheck on Timbuktu'. I remember reading that and saying "This is me! This is my life" (minus the Anne of Green Gables obsession)... but the wanting to sit on the couch at home instead of going to a party - that was geeky teenage me! lol
I'm tempted to read every book in this list, because Aussie YA lit seems to be quality. (Idk, I only based that on Markus Zusak. :D)With fantasy/dystopian romance YA sprouting left and right, it can be tiring and eye-rolling.
Now if only they can be available in the Philippines. T^T
Black Taxi was one I remember enjoyng. Not sure who by? And the Great Gatenby by John Marsden is missing!
Does anyone remember an Australian YA book about a girl that falls for the popular boy - he moves overseas (to like Fiji or something) and she goes to visit him on the assumption that she would sleep with him but he jumps off some rocks and dislocates his hip? It's been driving me crazy for years! There is also a bit of a thing with some other girl and the dudes mother tells the lead that her boyfriend is young and has needs.
That's a great list!Just want to highlight that book readers in Australia can now borrow ALL these books for free from the book readers in their neighborhood using Lenro: https://lenro.co
PS: Lenro connects neighborhood book readers so that we can all borrow/lend books in our area, for free.
Hi - am trying to find the title/author of a YA book I think might be Australian, from the early 1990s, published by Puffin/Penguin in U.K. The lead character is a girl on holiday in Bali with her parents. Meets another girl, who's more street-wise/adventurous than she is - they become friends, go exploring together, there's an accident. Plus other stuff, but don't want to give away too much plot in case anyone does share title/author & others think they'd like to try it! Thanks.
