I don't think that War of the Worlds is a dystopian novel (good though it is). In fact, several of the titles in the list would seem to be Post Apocalypse, rather than Dystopian.

Yeah, WotW isn't dystopian, but nether the less a great SF-classic. It contains certain dystopian elements. I would consider it a SF-satire.

The Hunger Games should just be banned from all lists, because we all know it will end up number one, no matter what list it's on. And frankly if you have read 10 or so of the classic books in this category you will know it's not the best book in this category.

I'm trying to locate a dystopian book I had read a few years back- It took place in a future in a school, and the cover was like a yearbook page. anyone recall that one? Cant remember the name of it.

As much as I love Harry Potter, it is most definitely not Dystopian!
Niether are any of the books by Cassandra Clare. And Twilight is most definitely not! There are quite a few doubles on this list such as Animal Farm.
I think this is good a list, but perhaps try clean it up a bit.

Likely, there's just so much dystopian teen lit at the moment that the compilers mistakenly believed YA = Dystopian.

I wouldn't count "The Stand" as dystopian either.

Has been removed.

Animal Farm is not a dystopian novel. It's political satire/analogy.

Behind the colossal walls of the Prism Spire, the man who saved humanity decreed that every Myth must give up their powers or be hunted. That's the dystopia Cass and his little sister are running from.

Author here! I submitted The First Stone, the book my wife and I have spent the last 8 years writing together.

If you love the dystopian class struggle of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn, but wish it moved faster...

If you love the elemental powers of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but wish it went deeper and darker...

If you love the action and factions of Pierce Brown's Red Rising, but without the gore, profanity, or explicit scenes...

That's The First Stone, edited by Michael Braff, the editor of Red Rising.

Cass's little sister is going to die. He'll burn the world down to save her.

-Morally grey heroes
-Fierce sibling bonds
-Rebellion & sacrifice
-Deep worldbuilding

On the rare chance this gets picked, we'd love to do an exclusive ARC for everyone in the group who wants it, along with deluxe edition giveaways of the book, author reads (we do the actual voices for the audiobook), and more!

Either way, thanks for reading. The first 3 chapters are free at exousia.world
