Best books that stand alone. In other words they tell it all in one book and have no sequels.

You know, I made a list sort of like this one. I think yours great, may I add some more books? I mean, there's so MANY books with no sequel! Every second book or so stands alone...Could you please, please, please vote at my list ? It's called "Books I wish had a sequel". You could look for the words:" sequel" or "goodreads".
THANKs
Hi Danna,Please feel free to add as many books as you would like. I will check out your list as well.
Happy reading,
Kerri :o)
i started to vote because there are some great books on this list, but as a general rule, i don't like sequels. i find sequel books to be formulaic and ultimately to lose their power.
I couldn't agree more. That is why I created this list, so that we could find some good books without sequels. Unfortunately some of the books that have been added now have sequels but I try to keep a lookout and remove any that I find do.
Who put Clan of the Cave Bear? There are about a dozen sequels to that!
Hi there. I thought that I had discovered a list, called to die for stand alone books or something, then to my horror half of them if not more where again books of a series. Well this list was what I was searching for so thanks for making this. getting sick and confused reading so many YA dystopian books that are also part of series.I loved lauren Oliver's book Before I fall. Highly recommend.
Does anyone know how to remove a book from the list? Beautiful Disaster (which is a good book) now has a sequel and should not be on the list.
Zafon's The Shadow of the Wind (currently at #101) has two sequels, The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven.
Yeah sorry but I still do not know how to remove books from this list. There are a few books now that have sequels.
I think I've figured out how to remove books from this list that now have sequels - you have to delete them from your list of books that you voted for. For example: if you voted for "The Shadow of the Wind" then you have to delete the book from your list of votes.
Took off the following books with sequels:Beautiful Disaster
Reason to Breathe
The Giver
Hattie Big Sky (sequel coming out this year)
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Princess Academy
The Grimm Legacy (sequel coming out this year)
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH
Stargirl
Inferno
Paradise Lost

What about books like Gone with the Wind. Margaret Mitchell did NOT write a sequel but some other idiots tried. I feel they should not have been allowed to do such a thing. It should be protected.

Hi!#80 - The Handmaid's Tale (The Handmaid's Tale, #1) - has a sequel (The Testaments) which is actually a continuation of the first book.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
When making the request, be sure to give the link to the list, and as much info on which books need to be removed.
And I understand the frustration. I have checked quite a few "stand alone" list and a good % of the list has series books on them. It's so difficult to find "true" stand alone books.
