Children's and Middle Grade books that have inspired a literary destination -- i.e. some type of physical place you can visit which brings the story and characters to life in a whole new way -- the line between reality and fiction becomes blurred.
PLEASE READ ALL FIVE GUIDELINES FOR ADDING A BOOK(S) TO THIS LIST:
**It is important to note that the BOOK came first, THEN the destination was created.**
(1) Children's and Middle Grade books only. NO YOUNG ADULT or other genres.
(2) Please do not include books that have inspired a "literary landmark" like a statue.
(3) Authors do not add your own books to this list.
(4) If the book is part of a series, choose ONLY ONE of the following two options:
(a) ONLY add the FIRST book in the series -- do not add subsequent titles.
(b) Add a "boxset" or "omnibus" that represents multiple titles in the series.
(5) If you ADDED a book to this list, please fill out the "Why you added this book" so you can list the name and location of the "literary destination" associated with the book(s). Feel free to type as much or as little as you want in this box. This section will be on the right hand side of your screen under a heading titled: "MY VOTES."
If you click the "___ people voted" text underneath a book on this list, you can see the notes that people typed in! (Thank you friend Holly for sharing this secret!)

Beth, Good idea for a list. Just to let you know, the link that came in the email was invalid for some reason, but I found this page by doing a search. I'll try to participate, which is one reason I'm making a note here. When anyone comments in this thread I'll get an email and that will be a reminder for me.

To delete books straight away (or delete books with multiple voters) you have to be a librarian.
Should you be willing to give me the titles, then I'd be happy to remove the books for you :-)

Sure, please do this; I would really appreciate this a lot. I will find the titles and get back to you.
It looks like the problematic titles have disappeared. Thanks though.

I am not a librarian so I did not delete your entries.

I just added those now. It might be a bug, or it might simply be that it could take a while for them to appear. I know GR has had some issues with this.
I love your list, and I now have some literary destinations to consider for future trips.

I'm going to use it as a travel/bucket list :-)

I have a graduate degree in German literature, so your comment was not really all that long, considering the mega-tomes and complicated fiction that I had to read, lol (I should probably not have added books last night, with my cold and my whoozy thoughts from cold medication, ha, ha).
Gundula, Hope your cold is better.I like the books on this list but I'm trying to think of some others, and then I might add my own list.

It's getting a bit better, but still sticking around.

I wonder if that is what I've got (but at least, I have not had the sore throat, just the coughing, a medium fever and pluged up sinuses). But if it's a virus, going to the doctor is useless.

Yes, I don't bother with doctors unless I can't get a high fever down for a couple weeks or unless I'm too dehydrated from vomiting or diarrhea. Otherwise, I just drink a lot of water and refuse to feel guilty for lying around and reading or watching tv.
I hope you recover really quickly, Gundula.

I hate it when that happens. You should probably email support to report this.
