On Saturday 5th March 2011, 20,000 people gave away a million books across Britain and Ireland. That's 40,000 copies of each of the 25 books in the list below. But which are our favourites? There's only one way to find out...

This list seems somewhat random, so I wonder how they came up with it... of course it has my two favorite books (Life of Pi, Blind Assassin), so I'm not complaining!
I was one of the givers for this, I gave Northern Lights out on the train on my daily commute, was a great event and a few of those I gave books too are now a part of my local book group, supprisingly more is their age, they are all mid to late teens. I joined this event as I believe in promoting literacy and in this day and age it is something that is rapidly in decline, you only have to look at how many libraries and bookshops are closing. I would love to hear from other people that were either involved in giving or were lucky enough to receive a book from the event, I'm even putting my name down to do it again next year too.
The organisers are asking everyone to nominate their favourite books for World Book Night 2012: http://www.worldbooknight.org/your-bo...
(Not sure if this is UK only.)
