Listopia > Worst Austen Adaptations/Retellings

From Rock Star Darcy to Austen fans time traveling to the Regency era, there are some things that the world could have gone on without......

Share your vehement hatred for Jane Austen related adaptations/retellings that insult the integrity of the source material.

- do NOT add any books actually written by Jane Austen
- to qualify as Austen adaptation/retelling the book has to be influenced by Austen's work. Anything from modern versions of Emma, a retelling of Northanger Abbey with mermaids, or Pride and Prejudice retold from Wickham's point of view would qualify as such.
- examples of "insulting the integrity of the source material" include but are not limited to: ruining characters, bad writing, or poorly done plot lines.

disclaimer: Like many other lists, there are subjective and objective elements to this. A book on here might be your favorite Austen adaptation/retelling, and that's fine. Take the words "don't be offended" to heart.
