Most books I forget very fast which really upsets me when I get a question on the neverending quiz about them. They have to be very good or shocking for me to retain them. BAD memory..sigh! Not only do I forget titles...I forget authors too. Its rare for me to obsess so we are all different.

Allison thats kinda sad, i can remember whats in a book the i recently read or have read a couple of times ( but not every thing only the main events)
i no this is kinda pointless asking but have u ever read Pride and Prejudice? by Jane Austen? u might not remember but its about a family (the Benetts) and how they have to marry off their daughters or lose their fortune and Elizabeth falls in love w/ this guy Mr. Darcy and blaugh balugh blaugh its like a huge love circle kinda.

Actually two online friends here at goodreads convinced me to read Pride and Prejudice and finally I did so but found it very BORING. I did force myself to read the whole thing tho partly to answer neverending quiz questions. Are you into it? I don't understand its great popularity at all. I much prefer more unusual type people like the heroine in Penmarric or Bella Swan. Elizabeth was just a boring character to me but very Victorian I guess. My favortive author is Norah Lofts and I like her characters: Jassy, Nick Helmar's daughter (very naughty), Damask in Afternoon of an Autocrat who is highly unusual, the heroine in The Day of the Butterfly (also Norah Lofts), Ana Vasilifata in Lifeblood, Dr. Cartwright in I Met a Gypsy, well, I could go on and on......

Some characters you never forget your whole life Scarlett O'Hara. I read about her at age 12. She was certainly not a boring goody two shoes! LOL! Don't mind me. I just much prefer the unusual. Please feel free to defend her all you want ....Elizabeth. LOL! ;-)

I don't see it so will try to add it for you. (even tho I never read it)

message 7: by Thom (new)

Thom Dunn Would just love to know how anyone gets a book added to this list or any other list, I keep trying, but never succeed. No one will give me clear instructions about how to do it. Think Neanderthal. Now tell him what to do !

Look at upper right portion of your screen. Do you see "find/add books to list"? If yes, there should be a box below it that says "title / author / isbn" shaded gray, then a search button. You enter your book title (or whatever) in that box and hit "search." Or, there is a hyperlink that says "browse from my books" which will bring up all of your books and you can vote individually that way.

i get what u mean i tried to read it before and like fell asleep, then i watched the movie and then read the book and it wasn't as boring because i knew what was going to happen (well kinda u no how they mess up movies) so i could focus more on the way things were written instead of the content. Jane Austen is really good at shaping a character! U should watch the movie then read it again u'll probably like it more (or maybe u wont just a suggestion)
another question have u read the Lioness Quartet? about a girl (alana) and how she fakes being a boy so she can become a knight in the medieval ages? By Tamora Pierce?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, hubby and I used to watch PBS all the time as we like the humor. We tried to watch Jane Austen but both of us get bored. Not everyone can be a Jane Austen fan!
I haven't read Lioness Quartet but just started Forever Amber again last night which I read ten years ago. It was a scandal of my mothers day. Her eyes are "topaz" like Edward Cullens when he isn't hungry, LOL! I own hundreds of books which I tend to read over and over as I know I like them. Ones I don't like I donate to Good Will.
Will keep Tamora Pierce in mind. Sounds slightly like The Maude Reed Tale by Norah Lofts. You can read more about it on Fans of Norah Lofts group.

message 13: by Daylighter (new)

Daylighter Twiligth really?!!!!!! ahhhhh why are people so blindly obsessed. if u wanna obsess over something do it over an amazing book, not Twilight. the Harry Potter series were good books to obsess over

message 14: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 04, 2010 12:35PM) (new)

Hooray for Les Mis! I wasn't expecting to see that at all. I'm very much the Mizzie. .
I'm a bit perplexed by the nature of this list, though. Obsession is a very personal thing, so I think it's sort of strange to try to determine the best one to obsess over.
