~☆~Autumn What were the surprises?

Answering this question gave me a chance to have another good look and add a few more that I agree with.
Surprising to me the following were on the list (particularly given the average star rating matches my liking), however, that's what makes GRs so interesting, eh?

Wuthering Heights, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Atonement, Tess of the D, Jude the Obscure (both my fav Thomas Hardy novels) Dracula, Great Expectations, Payer for Owen Meany and The Cider House Rules.

~☆~Autumn I agree with you on several of these particularly The Great Gatsby which was required reading for me in high school and also Tess of D'Ubervilles which I unfortunately purchased. I would never attempt Jude the Obscure based on the many reviews that I read! I also agree with you on Great Expectations, Prayer for Owen Meany but have not attempted The Cider House Rules which a friend insisted that I read!

I'll be keeping an eye out for your thoughts on Cider House Rules.
There are equally great reviews of Jude the Obscure. Just sayin'...

~☆~Autumn I doubt if I will read either one of those. Roberta wanted me to read The Cider House Rules but I haven't liked any book by John Irving. There are just some writers I don't care for at all! He is one of them. I have read numerous reviews about Jude the Obscure and it sounded dreadful. The only book I like by Thomas Hardy is Far From the Madding Crowd. If I do break down and read one of those I will let you know.

Hi Autumn.
Jude the Obscure and Far from the Madding Crowd are my fav Hardy novels this far, so we’re on the right track. Isn’t GRs fun!

~☆~Autumn Yes, I love goodreads. It is my favorite thing online. It used to be better when they had the Neverending Quiz. I used to live for that and was very sad when they dropped it due to a space problem.
