"Though Crystal Promise was not written with the intention of falling under the "young adult" fiction category, it certainly does have elements that make that genre so addictive. The narrative follows four young teenagers in their first years of finishing (high) school in the country of Novem. The story is full of love and angst that both adults and teenagers can relate with. The somewhat dramatic storyline is nicely complimented by a well constructed history of Novem (based on 1930's Italy) as well as tear inducing letters corresponded between two young lovers during Novem's wartime."
