Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1)
by
"Amazing is an understatement. My new favourite author. Funny, full of action and a dog who quotes star wars. Add angry gods, jesus as a drinking buddy, thor's a dick, dark elves, giants, vampires, werewolves, Ghouls and Nazi witches. Whats not too love? Oh and a nosey neighbour with a rocket launcher. "

Sandman Slim (Sandman Slim, #1)
by
"NOIR humour, over the top violence but in a funny way. He was sent to hell alive, became a play thing of hell, learnt how to kill, became an assassin for one of hells generals now he's back in LA and after revenge on the people who sent him there, the bloodier the better. Its none stop action, its high octane fun, its funny, its simply great, addictive AND I TOTALLY LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!"

Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1)
by
"Should be compulsory reading for ALL! The real definition of fun, and page turner. Books 1 -3 are very good, books 4 onwards are sheer brilliance. The balance of action, twists and humour is superb, the character development over the entire series excellent and addictive. Loved every single book in the series. "

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents (Discworld, #28)
by
"Intended as a kids book but adults will love it too. A sentient con man cat, some sentient rats and a weedy kid who plays a pipe go from town to town conning money to get rid of the plague of rats they provide, but the latest con doesn't quite go as planned. Pratchets unique take on the pied piper is riotously funny. "

The Daemon's Curse (Darkblade #1)
by
"Malus is a dark elf. dark elves are typically the villans, they believe heroism is sheer stupidity, and value treachery, murder, duplicity, and power. Everyones a bad guy in this book, so you get to root for Malus (a bad guy) and root for his treachery, duplicity and murderous ways. But thats okay as the people he plots against are worse. This then becomes a guilty pleasure. The plots is well writen, action fast and furious, twists aplenty, inventive, great characters, and just superbly written"

The Damned Busters (To Hell and Back, #1)
by
"I can not describe this book and do it justice. A borderline learning disability bloke accidentally summons a demon then causes a strike in hell when he won't sell his soul. As part of the settlement deal (without costing his soul) he asks for the powers to become a real life crime fighter/superhero, but with reality and demons in the mix he doesn't quite go to plan.

Its a unique book, and although the sequels were uninspiring this book was a real page turner. " See Review |

The Stormcaller (Twilight Reign, #1)
by
"This is a great book. Just before I read this I was starting to get bored with the genre this rekindled my interest (which considering the likes of Brent weeks came soon after is a good thing)There is political intrique, meddling gods, sword fights, prophersies being thwarted in this book, not fulfilled. Its a real page tuner well worth reading."

The Redemption of Althalus
by
"Edding is a good sword and sorcery author, but this book is the first he did that was funny. The heroes an unrepentant thief whose unimpressed by his gods and even stole a fortune in paper money but threw it away as he didn't understand its worth. I'm not sure it was intended to be as light hearted and funny as it was, but it was a joy to read. "

Lion of Macedon (Greek Series, #1)
by
"If you like fantsy and you have not read a david Gemmel book then you haven't lived and I pity you. (Though I'd prefer waylander) Gemmel is the man who raised fantsy fiction out of the mire. It was considered second rate fiction for second rate authors before Gemmel showed everyone how brilliant the genre could be. He earned awards for literature by the boat load and deserved everyone. "

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1)
by
"Briliantly writen, great character and story development. A not too overstated love interest which is present but does not supplant the story. Its slightly in the future and magic is returning to the world. It comes in waves, when its up technology fails and buildings crumble, when it wains magic fails and technology is king again. The people are trying to come to terms with the new reality. Add sword fights, werebeasts, magic, vampires, secrets, a mysterious warloard to fear, and a who dunnit action detective novel. Sounds ugg but it works really well"
