But what really drew me in, was Hoffman's seamless weaving of NYC history, with fiction, drama, tension, and an ability to evoke sadness in me because not only were her characters compelling, but the story was steeped in a background and context of real tragedy. I appreciated that this was not one of Hoffman's typical love story, but rather, it was a slow cultivation and tribulations that brought Eddie and Coralie together in the end. One of her best works to date, that I have read!"
