I'm looking forward to this autumn, then...The Fences Between Us is coming out, as well as a new Dear Canada book and I Am Canada. Yay for North American historical fiction! Yes, I've read your review. The shortness of the My Story books gets on my nerves as well.
this one in particular REALLY needed one more entry set a couple months later. some of them just had more of a conclusion. that was lacking in this one. did you read the pompeii one? The ending to that bugged me too.
I wish the author of Pompeii had a public website/email since I wanted to see if she'd answer a question about the ending. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be an open ending or what. But it doesn't seem she does. Oh well. The Fall of the Blade didn't even need to be that much longer. One more diary entry a year later telling what happened to some of the people that weren't with her at the end of the book would have made it perfect.
Yes, I've read all of the My Story girls' books apart from Fall of the Blade and Highway Girl. Pompeii was good (but my favourites of her My Story books are War Nurse and Mill Girl).I've looked for her website as well, but I suppose if you want to contact her you'll have to send an email c/o Scholastic. Hmm, a fair few of the My Story books need an epilogue of sorts. But, well, I guess the open ending keeps you guessing.
