Claude the Dog: A Christmas Story
by
"I wish this was still in print. See if you can find it in your local library. It teaches generosity and awareness of those who have far less. Claude is NOT content to feel sorry for others. He puts his feelings into ACTION, and does so sacrificially. Another BIG favorite in our home. "

Santa Comes to Little House (My First Little House Books)
by
"Beautifully illustrated, but I believe the best version is the original from THE LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE (book 2 in the series), chapter 19. The description and tension of the original will keep children's attention, even without the illustrations. My GROWN children still love me reading this to them. It teaches contentment and gratitude. Stubby Pringle's Christmas
by
"Stubby Pringle pops out of the pages as a sympathetic, unlikely hero. I've read this to my kids at home, and even publically to adult groups. It is a wonderful story by one of America's best Western authors. You'll end up loving this hardworking, soft-hearted young cowboy. A well-written story that will also help chase away that spirit of "give me -- give me!" that often shows up during the holidays. "
