Hattie is possessed of a number of admirable qualities the most attractive of which is; she is fearless.
When he leaves Hattie discovers a book he brought with him; a strange book, full of power and Magic. Dangerous types start showing up. They want the book and they are prepared to play dirty to get it. The plan is to terrorise her into handing it over.
If that is the best they can come up with they are underestimating Mrs. Jacques.
