I don't know too much about what we are capable of, but would like to know more. I am very into recycling EVERYTHING I know of. I know that is an obvious one, so I'd like to learn more.

As the author of Green Power, I read environmental novels to see what other authors in my genre are writing. Also, as a scientist in the medical field, I am concerned about our health and how changes in the environment are contributing to our well being.

I think that we have ignored sustainability issues for far too long, and so our planet is suffering from our excess. We must learn as much as we can about green issues, and make better decisions that those previous generations have made. There are far too many people in the world - the balance of ecosystems have changed because of us.

Thanks for your comment, Cindy. I will recommend to you one of our reading's book club 2009 Collapse How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed by Jared Diamond.This book will give you a new glance to understand how societies have made or make decisions with a lot of examples in the world.
The results of his survey are perhaps why Diamond sees "signs of hope" and arrives at a position of "cautious optimism" for all our futures".

The question is "Why do you like READING ? The Green group is a group where we share our knowledge, where we learn in different Environment fields by reading books or discussing Environmental issues from articles, with facts.

" It is only when humans realize the centrality of Biodiversity to their lives that they will start to conserve and sustainably and equitably use it. "

And READING books is one of the most relevant way to learn with famous authors.

Let me repeat, I am a book reviewer. That means, I read the books that are offered to me for review. I neither get paid nor pay for the books. I am a physicist, a metallurgist, a quality management expert from an industry deeply involved in nuclear power, which, I believe is quite green, esp. from global warming perspective and reduction of carbon emissions. I also believe in solar, wind power, wave power, geo thermal and other clean sources of energy.

I keep abreast of what is going on in this field by reading newspapers, Scientific American and other publications.

Thanks. Is this the group or is there another link for joining? I made a power point presentation a couple of years ago to school teachers (not science teachers, teachers of arts, commerce, music etc.) and they appreciated it for its simplicity. I am ready to share that too.

I picked "Other" because I like to read for both those reasons and more. I love to have something to talk about and books are great conversation pieces. Plus I like to loose myself in other worlds and visit places I may never get to visit in person. Of coarse learning and sharing what I learn are amazing and fun aspects of book reading as well...actually is is like the cherry on top of the sundae.

I picked "Other".. Coz I like to read to learn, but also for fun.. It's a hobby so I don't necessarily read because I need to know something.
