And as this group grows, it could become more of a problem. Although it's good if lots of people want to nominate, if there are too many choices, even the winning book may not have many people voting for it and hence not enough people actually reading the monthly book, which rather defeats the point.Jenny, is it worth having a limit on the number of nominations per month? I'm not sure what it would be (looking at 11, above, maybe 10 would be OK?) or how you'd determine it (first ten suggestions, or implement first and second round ballots!!), but it's something worth monitioring and maybe considering in the future.

Is anyone in any other groups that do a similar thing? How does it work there?
Hmmmm good point ladies! I'll have to have a think on that one! I could take the top 3 say through to another round of voting?

The other thing to beware of is stretching the process so that there is too little time to get hold of the winning book, otherwise you'll just be swapping one (potential) problem for another! LOL

I have seen the same problem in some other groups where there are too many to choose from and the "winning" book may only have 3 of 20 votes. I am of the mind that even 10 choices may be too many but not sure how to limit it. Perhaps if you have nominated in one month you can't in the next? or first 5 make it? or ???I also would like to see either a description of the book nominated or at least the link so that it is easier for us to check it out.
But having said all of that, great job Jenny on running this.
Shannon, each of the books in the poll is a link, so you can click it for details. Also, people often write a more personal puff when they initially nominate it, albeit that's on a different topic/page.

I do realize that once they are in the poll that they are links. I guess I just like to preview what has already been nominated so that I don't nominte a similar book. Thanks.

"The Uncommon Reader" is absolutely brilliant and has made it onto my top reads list. I suppose I should choose something I have no read, but I would highly suggest this wonderful little book!

Eek, I've just started reading Pride & Prejudice and Zombies and I have to say it is not very good. If anyone wants to go for the second choice instead, please do if that is allowed. I'm a bit embarrassed that I nominated this book now. Next time I'll nominate something I've actually read first!

Ha ha maybe I'll give us 2 options this month. I have a feeling we won't have many takers for the pride and prejudice and zombies book.

Maybe the 11 voters will read P&P&Z though?
