Yay! I was thinking back while reading Winter Tide that I don't think I ever read any books on mermaids. Into the Drowning Deep is definitely getting my vote for this poll just for the horror/killer mermaid aspect of it!
Okay, I'm late but here are my comments on this month's picks:Into the Drowning Deep - Mira Grant is on my personal list of Speculative Fiction authors who are on the rise and appear to be making great contributions to these genres. She's had at least one in our polls (Parasite) but she's never won. This one looks really good and is the one I voted for. I haven't read her yet. Did I mention it looks really good?
Jade City - I heard about this one before it came out and it looks really, really cool. Another group of mine read it and everyone seemed to really like it. It looks kind of unique, too.
The Ground Beneath Her Feet - I try to fit literary books in here and there. I chose this one because I absolutely loved it. It's my favorite by Rushdie and it has an absolutely amazing audiobook. Some of Rushdie's books are pretty difficult reads, but this one was fairly accessible. I really loved this book and I'm hoping a few people pick it up and enjoy it as much as I did. Really brilliant.
Amberlough - This was on the Locus reading list and Jain said it was one of their (Sorry Jain, I'm not sure about your pronouns) favorite books last year.
Magicians Impossible - I saw this one before it came out, too. It looked really interesting and I keep seeing it pop up on feeds as though people are enjoying it and wanting to read it. Apparently not that many people in this group feel that way.
Sorry for the delay! I haven't been in front of a computer, unless I've been watching Doctor Who. I gave up my Whovian fix this evening to type this. Sigh.
