I read The Goldfinch when it first came out, it was beautifully written & enthralling at first, but the Las Vegas section was a slog for me, and I am usually a devourer of books I am glad I read it, it has stayed with me, but cannot see myself reading it again anytime soon I do want to see how the film turned out, it was a very visual & descriptive book, sections of it felt like 21st century Henry James.

Both Donna Tartt and Ann Patchett have been on my reading list forever, but I haven't read either yet.
I just recently discovered that The Goldfinch might be interesting after ignoring it for years because I heard mixed opinions about it. If you decide to read it I would love to join you.
It sounds as if we're in for a great discussion, both from those who have already read it and new readers too :)
I suggested to Amber in the nominations thread, that if The Goldfinch wins, it should be a monster read over 2 months, so we'll see what she decides :)

Ah, it is a hefty tome isn't it? I'd be up for having it be for two months, lol.
