Hello everyone,Normally, I cannot find time to join the group reads. But as soon as I saw this poll, I bought and started to read Alone Time.
The other books also look very interesting, but Alone Time grabbed my attention instantly, mainly because it's about some of the cities I love, especially Paris, and I love travelling alone.
Thank you for including this book in the poll. I'm happy to find it :)
Tie! I’m going to leading the fiction discussion for March so likely won’t be getting to read this selection. Our voters in this poll are all active members. Is anyone who voted open to switching their vote and resolving the tie? Are all six of you feeling sufficiently passionate about your choice to run two nonfiction group reads in March, each with 3 participants? Coin toss? What do you suggest?
Oh I don't know what to say. All women traveller writers are my favourite reads. I would love to read both books, all three in fact, and possibly will read in time. But for now, time is a real concern for me because of work. So I cannot commit.Whatever the result of this poll, I'll be reading Alone Time in any way. In case it gets to be selected, I can participate the discussion.
I spend too much time in Paris to want to read Alone Time haha - but if I switch my vote to Baghdad Sketches that resolves the tie. Would that help? I don't mind.
Cam wrote: "I spend too much time in Paris to want to read Alone Time haha - but if I switch my vote to Baghdad Sketches that resolves the tie. Would that help? I don't mind."Well - yes, lol. That wasn't the solution I was thinking of, especially since Lhasa is your nomination, but that works, too.
The alternative is that we run 2 non-fiction read discussions instead of 1, but it would only be a good discussion if all 6 voters participate - 3 for each read. Are you still good with leading for Lhasa?
@Liesl - as the discussion lead for Alone Time, if you and Cam are good with leading discussions for your nominated books in March, knowing it's likely a robust discussion amongst 3 readers, I say we do that rather than pick one.
What say you?
Yes happy to lead on the Alexandra David-Neel if people are interested in reading it! It'll force me to actually read it - it's been on my shelves for close to a decade......oops.
I'm happy to fit in with what everyone else wants to do. I'm not sure that 3 people counting the discussion lead will make for much of a robust discussion but I am willing to try it.

They’re both interesting books and may attract additional participants, too.
Thanks to you both!
