Question about-The Dark Between the Stars by Kevin J. Anderson

This is the first of space opera series called Saga of Shadows. But Anderson has also written another space opera series called Saga of Seven Suns. Seven Suns is connected and comes first, apparently. GR says that you can read them independently, https://www.goodreads.com/series/1136... but is. that really true? Has anyone read any of either of these series? Should a reader read Seven Suns first?

All but the Anderson seem to be IN a series, and not the first. There are plenty of great stand alone space operas. Really not interested in picking up a new series, especially not a couple of books in.

Starplex is a standalone.

While the Asaro books are in a universe, they can be read as stand-alones as well.
