Thank you for opening the voting for July-August, Erin!! Ack, I want to vote for too many!

I know! I want to vote for all of them, really. I guess we'll have options for later months too ;-)

Beth PD James writes a fuller story like Laurie, Well sometimes even wordier, so if you like it detail oriented, then you will like PD james, if you are in the mood for a bit lighter read maybe 13th night? dunno, there are some good books on that list.

So many books, so few months. :) I actually saw another potential future pick that I haven't even heard of before, but they ran a kindle store sale on it, and it stood out--

Friday the Rabbi Slept Late by Harry Kemelman

I wonder if LRK has read this one.

I love PD James, but Cover Her Face isn't her best novel. She definitely gets better as she goes along.

Write in a vote! There wasn't a specific suggestion made for a PD James book, so I just grabbed the first in her longest running series. It's always tough with series...start at the beginning or pick a better book in the middle?

Write-in votes can also give some title/author recognition for upcoming picks, which is cool. :D

The only P.D. James I've read is Children of Men, which does have something of an LRK vibe. It didn't hit me where I live, but it very much made me want to dive into her mysteries. I'll add that first Dalgliesh to my to-read shelf. I would start with a stronger one, but I've got a series-order reading fetish. And I like to see an author and characters develop over a series. That was a major part of the delight of reading the Lord Peter Wimsey series.

Steve Since I can't figure out how to vote in the poll, I'll just state my preference for Dust and Shadows.

Please tell me this is on Kindle?

My second choice would be the Adam Dalgiesh "Cover Her Face" story since I watched the BBC productions of them a few months back.

You just click on the bar with the title of your choice. I think it may run on flash though, and you may have flash disabled on your computer. But we can take your vote into account at the end, never fear.

Elisabeth You can't read Blackout without reading All Clear; maybe that should be a two-month read. (I just read them, they are top of my favorites list now!!!)

I tried to re-watch them on Netflix but I cannot understand them...the audio is terrible and the quality of the film worse. I remember watching all of them when they were first televised here...loved them and read a PD James novel or two then...and found her challenging but worthy. Only the last one filmed is worth watching today as far as viewability, sound and acting...the others seem rather clumsy and downright amateurish by today's standards. (The acting was great but not supported by the production techniques).
