Would you rather get a series book (that you follow) in two parts, half now and half a month later, or the whole thing later? (Total price the same either way, and the two parts of the story are fairly distinct, with plot closure of each part)David VanDyke

I would want to have the series readily available, but having half now and the other half later gives something to look forward to, especially if the books are decent in length.

Hi David, Unless they are really totally separate, I would prefer all at once. I read so many books, that I have many plots and characters going through my head, so I like to read the second part while the first part is still fresh. Currently I am 'collecting' a few series and will read them once the final installment is published.
More physical editions is potentially more opportunities for discovery. I could be wrong but ultimately it makes sense to me that a series should be more episodic to include more readers as time goes on. (Worked for the True Blood books)
Brian,Yes I do see the the upside as an author - more works, more episodes, and more time for the two pieces vs. one on the hot new releases lists - but those attractive considerations have to take a back seat to the desires of the readers, which should always be my number one consideration.
I'd rather wait a month for the whole book since half of it wouldn't last me long enough either, and waiting for the whole book to be out would allow me time to read something else in the meantime. That said, I usually try to wait till the last part of a trilogy (hardly read other series that are not individual stories each) is out before I start reading the first part.
