How did you go about your research process for writing Lilac Girls?

Martha Hall Kelly A lot of wonderful travel! I had to visit the settings in the book--Poland, France and Germany. I live in Connecticut so I already knew New York City pretty well. After that I made a giant timeline to keep all the action in the book straight date-wise.
