Goodreads asked Nicole Barrell:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Nicole Barrell I've always thought about the mysterious man who used to drive by my house yelling, "Mouse!" I wrote about him in an essay - about never knowing who it was until a card that showed up on my back porch 20 years later, solving the mystery and identifying this "Mouse Man." But the most fascinating driver of a story, I think, would be all the history leading up to why this guy felt the need to shout out, "Mouse!" on drive-bys in the 90's, even after my father passed away, and after all that time telling me little stories about their time together, like how they would break into churches in the 70's and whatnot. Jeez, I think I have a story now!
